Objectives and Priority Areas
Hul’qumi’num Health Working Group
- promotes the sharing of services, in some cases the expansion of primary and community health services
- Is for all Aboriginal people living on and off reserve in the Hul’qumi’num territory.
OBJECTIVE 1
To integrate the health planning and services in the priority areas identified by community members and the Hul’qumi’num’ Health Working Group
OBJECTIVE 2
To facilitate collaboration between all of the partners in the safe, effective and efficient provision of health services to Aboriginal people residing in Hul’qumi’num’ Territory.
OBJECTIVE 3
To secure adequate operating and capital funds for the expansion of Ts’ewulhtun Health Centre to the Ts’ewulhtun Community Health & Wellness Centre.
PRIORITIES
Two community consultation dinners were held and a set of priorities were derived from the feedback.
- Youth - Meaningful youth engagement & development of service model that involves all partners
- Cultural Safety - Promotion and implementation of culturally safe health services for Aboriginal people.
- Elders - Cowichan’s 10 bed, multi-level care unit & the Chemainus Elder’s Programming and Respite.
